He belongs in a fable In a book of mythology They might have spoken of him round a campfire Hands moving, shadowy His words, beautiful music Sung to a lyre in verse But this is no story of gods and of heroes But a monster considerably worse One hundred faces and the body of a man, Don't be deceived He sings to you sweetly and tells you things That cannot be believed If you get too close, He'll reel you in Although he's beautiful The man with a hundred faces leads a life of sin Has he the teeth of a lion? Has he eyes that are black? No, he seems like a man 'til you kiss him And by that point there's no going back You'd think, "One hundred faces Would be the most gruesome sight one could see," But be warned, it looks just like there's one Cos he switches magnificently One hundred faces and the body of a man, Don't be deceived He sings to you sweetly and tells you things That cannot be believed If you get too close He'll reel you in Although he's beautiful The man with a hundred faces leads a life of sin So be wary of his hypnotic call So many faces I've yet to see them all Don't look right at him, don't let him make you blind Wherever you go he'll be following behind One hundred faces But the body of a man One hundred faces and the body of a man Don't be deceived He sings to you sweetly and tells you things That cannot be believed If you get too close He'll reel you in Although he's beautiful The man with a hundred faces leads a life of sin He leads a life of sin

Grass Stains 04:03
I walked up the hill, for the last time With my new friends Thinking, one day, this will all be ours The quickest one to the top Gets to see the view, ‘it’s a good one’ I said, cause it was The city and cathedral were as they’ve always been As they stood for saints and my dad's friends and a hundred in between But something of that age-old view seemed different, subtly, I didn’t know it then of course, but they wouldn’t stand for me Cobbled stones, winding roads They’re mine Ancient walls, draughty halls I made my mark there long ago In size two trainers, eight years old And the ground it ground itself into my soul Into my soul Then, like a lousy ex-lover, It all went quiet Just a note saying, I’ll call you. The best way to the top Is by holding clumps of hill in your hands and refusing to let go. With tradition, age and reason, the city captures you It tells you that it loves you, so of course, you love it too But my family tree is anchored here, what else am I to do? How could I, with ripped-out roots, attempt to grow anew? Cobbled stones, winding roads They’re mine Ancient walls, draughty halls I made my mark there long ago In size two trainers, eight years old And the ground it ground itself into my soul Some don’t reach the top They don't get the view, the city or the hill They just get grass stains. The little girl inside me makes that journey in her mind Back up the hill to see the place one day she left behind For ever, cus she'll never have her home among those lanes If ever I return there, I won't be that girl again. Cobbled stones, winding roads …. Ancient walls, draughty halls I made my mark there long ago In size two trainers, eight years old And the ground it ground itself into my soul

Maybe we'll rent a little flat together in the City And we'll sit out on our Balcony, where we'll have afternoon tea We'll be young and we'll be wild and free At twenty four and twenty three Maybe a cat will twine around my ankles As I look up at the sky And maybe I'll see the stars Or maybe just the coloured streetlamps And I don't want to scare you Nor do I think I believe in God But this May be Heaven

Far To Go 03:31
When it's your birthday I'll sing down the phone And hope you're in public when I do When life is a nightmare And you need a good moan I'll send you a text or twenty two. When you hear back from That company you applied to I’ll pop a champagne cork on Skype And as the fizz goes down the cracks of the keyboard I'll hope it doesnt stick when I type Oh I know the nights are colder on your own But I promise you you'll never be alone There's a fair few miles between us, oh, I know But if you need me, then you don't have far to go If you get bad news You're struggling to brave I'll message you long into the night When your resolve is Beginning to cave Be sure that I'll help you with the fight When you find a person Who makes you feel celestial I'll check out their facebook with you And you can give me all of that high school gossip Just like we used to do Oh I know the nights are colder on your own But I promise you you'll never be alone There's a fair few miles between us, oh, I know But if you need me, then you don't have far to go And if I need you, then I dont have far to Go... Oh... When we're in our fifties And start to feel old We'll brainstorm your thirty-ninth tattoo When you're retired And done with being controlled I’ll watch as you dye your hair bright blue If you decide to Up sticks and move, so An ocean stands in our way I'll still FaceTime even if for me it's 3am 'Cause I want to see the spare room for when I come to stay Oh I know the nights are colder on your own But I promise you you'll never be alone There's a fair few miles between us, oh, I know But if you need me, then you don't have far to go If I need you, then I dont have far to go When it's your birthday I'll sing down the phone Long after my voice has lost its tune
